About Lllet Me Finish

“It’s not what you SAY it’s how YOU FEEL when you SAY IT!”

How We Help?

Stuttering is a disruption in the production of speech sounds called disfluency. Which means that very often our words don’t come out as “smoothly” as they are developed. Understand, it’s not that we don’t know what we want to say, what we want to say very often comes how however it wants.  Our speech could sound as if it were riding in a 4-wheel drive over the roughest of terrain. Sometimes it could sound as if Grandpa Joe is in his buick trying forever to get it to start until it “turns over.” And, if that’s

not GREAT enough, our speech could actually not sound like speech as much as struggle; a hopefully brief battle between words and breath,  creating what could potentially produce a faint as a result of the blocking.  And, because of all of the above young people who stutter may also feel alone as they are forced to endure the ridicule, teasing and bullying.

Lllet Me Finish is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and since 2012 and offers comprehensive, innovative programs that address the physical, social and emotional impacts of stuttering. We believe that every young person who stutters has a voice that matters. And that what they say is way more important than how they say it.  Supporting Lllet Me Finish, helps to provide financial assistance to families in need of innovative programming that will build self-confidence and confident voices, while assisting us in program development and implementation.

Manifesto

It’s NOT what YOU say BUT how YOU FEEL when YOU IT.

YOUr Voice Matters.

   Fluencey matters to WHOM?

A message from the Founder & Director

I signed myself out of speech therapy when I was like 8. I told my therapist at the time we didn’t share the same vision for my speech; that she wanted me to be fluent. And, I just wanted to be confident.
This was after a two week stay at Camp SAY.

Over the years I’ve come to terms with it, although STILL there a times when I wish I didn’t stutter. See not only does stuttering effect and affect your only means of communication [speaking] but it also impacts your physical being. Like it’s HARD physically challenging and exhausting sometimes. You try blocking on every word that begins with the letter “H”.
